10 Bowles, William Lisle Sonnets, and other poems : by the Reverend W.L. Bowles, A.M. Of Trinity-College, Oxford.
Bath Printed by R. Cruttwell : And sold by C. Dilly, London ; And T. Adams, Shaftesbury 1796 Fifth Edition Soft Cover Good 22 cm tall
140 p. Frontis. is an aquatint engraving by Alken. Marbled wrappers are worn with chipping on the fore-edges. Backstrip is missing, but still bound. Text is unmarked by underlining or notations. William Lisle Bowles (1762 - 1850) was an English priest, poet and critic. In 1789 he published, in a very small quarto volume, Fourteen Sonnets, which were received with extraordinary favour, not only by the general public, but by such men as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Wordsworth. Bowles is perhaps more celebrated as a critic than as a poet. In 1806 he published an edition of Alexander Pope's works with notes and an essay, in which he laid down certain canons as to poetic imagery which, subject to some modification, were later accepted, but which were received at the time with strong opposition by admirers of Pope and his style. 12 Colonna, Francesco; Manuzio, Aldo (printer.) Leaf from Hypnerotomachia printed by Aldus Manutius Venice, 1499 / [Hypnerotomachia Poliphili ubi humana omnia non nisi somnium esse doce : leaf]
[Venetiis] [In aedibus Aldi Manutii, accuratissime] 1499 First Thus Soft Cover Very Good 32 cm tall
A leaf from Hypnerotomachia Poliphili. This leaf has a woodcut illustration on each page. The leaf is in a hardcover folder with gold embossed lettering on the cover:"Leaf from Hypnerotomachia printed by Aldus Manutius Venice, 1499" There is some wear to this binding with most along the edges. There are annotations on each side of the leaf. Also some wear to the edges of the leaf. From Wikipedia: "The text of the book is written in a bizarre Latinate Italian. Without explanation, the text is full of words based on Latin and Greek roots. The book, however, also includes words from the Italian language and illustrations which include Arabic and Hebrew words. Moreover, Colonna would invent new forms of language when those available to him were inaccurate. The book also contains some uses of Egyptian hieroglyphs, but they are not authentic. ...The book has long been sought after as one of the most beautiful incunabula ever printed. The typography is famous for its quality and clarity. Its roman typeface, cut by Francesco Griffo, is a revised version of a type which Aldus had first used in 1496 for the De Aetna of Pietro Bembo."

18 Doig, Ivan From Ride with me, Mariah Montana [Broadside]
Berkeley Black Oak Books 1990 First Thus Soft Cover Fair Broadside 17.8 cm x 29.2 cm
Broadside. "This is a gift from Black Oak Books, Berkeley, on the occasion of a reading by the author. Designed and printed at Okeanos Press." ""We are a family that can be kind of stiffbacked," Jick McCaskill reflects with a characteristic sense of life's complications as he narrates this final novel of the classic Two Medicine trilogy. In English Creek Ivan Doig gave us the West of the l930's; in Dancing at the Rascal Fair, the alluring Rocky Mountain frontier of the late nineteenth century. Now, by way of Jick again and another cast of ineffably believable characters, he brings the story forward to l989, Montana's centennial summer."[ivandoigdotcom]
